Taking a Break… (Hiatus Announcement)

Over five years ago, I set up this blog with the hopes of sharing my writing with the world–to have a place where I could finally let people read what I’d been working on. But after just the first few posts, it became so much more. It became a place of community–where I could interact with the readers who showed up, share writing advice, and geek out about characters, books, and stories.

It became a training ground. A place where I could look back at my old writing and see how far I’d come. A place that allowed me to practice consistency, requiring me to meet the deadline of sharing something every single week.

But over the last couple of years, as I’ve joined the Author Conservatory and taken further steps towards my dreams of publication, the mental energy and time required in other areas of my writing life have pulled away from my ability to write a blog post regularly. Not all things are meant to last forever, and not all things will continue to help you grow as much as they did in the past. And that’s what makes them valuable. That’s what allows them to be treasured in our hearts when it’s time to move on.

Blogging has been a huge factor in my writing life for so many years, and it helped me grow in various different ways. I’ve been able to meet so many amazing people, and (hopefully!) impacted some people’s lives with the posts I’ve shared in some way, big or small. I don’t regret a single minute I spent working on it, and I’d do it all over again in a heartbeat! But for right now, in this particular season of my life, I’ve decided that it’s best to lay blogging aside for a time in order to focus more of my time and energy on other projects. I’m currently thinking this will be a few-month break, but that may be extended depending on where I’m at around the end of the summer. I might get back into a regular posting schedule, I might post only when I have something really important I’d like to share, and I may also end up setting blogging aside for the foreseeable future.

But that’s not something I’m setting in stone today! For now, I’m going to be taking a hiatus for a few months, and I’ll revisit plans for the blog afterward. Thank you so much for reading, and thank you to everyone who showed overwhelming support for this blog over the years! It means the world to me.
