5 YEARS OF BLOGGING. Wow. It feels very surreal to be writing this post. I can’t believe that it’s officially been five years (to the day!!) since I started my blog! From being a thirteen-year-old editing his very first novel, all the way to being an eighteen-year-old with the same dreams, still blindly chasing his passion of one day becoming a published author. It’s been quite a ride, and this blog has been a consistent platform for me to continue updating those interested, serve fellow writers and bookworms with content that is (hopefully) helpful and enjoyable, and share my growth as a writer with the world.
Over these past five years, we’ve amassed some whopping statistics, including:
13,000+ total views,
230 total posts published,
200+ followers,
and many many more awesome milestones!!
I have to thank every reader and follower who’s shown up to support this little blog of mine, it means the absolute world to me. I truly hope this blog has been a blessing to you, and I pray it will continue to be throughout the next year and beyond!
Now, because I’ve been blogging for five years now, I’d like to think I know a thing or two about blogging (at least I hope so! 😅) So I wanted to share a Q&A focused on starting and growing a blog for beginners. If you’re an aspiring blogger or someone who’s recently started one and wants to learn more about creating or growing your blog, definitely stick around! I hope this Q&A is helpful. (A big shoutout to some fellow blogger and writer friends who helped me come up with the questions!)
Without further ado, onto the Q&A for new bloggers! 😄

Question: When can you know when it’s time to start a blog?
Answer: That will definitely depend on you, but I would say if you have something important you want to share with others, be that your own stories, articles on a subject you’d like to share, or even funny cat memes, that’s the first indicator that you could absolutely start a blog! You need something to share first, something you’re passionate about. If you go into blogging without having something to share, what’s the point?
Question: What blog website is best for starters (and free)?
Answer: I can’t vouch for any other blog websites besides WordPress.com, because that’s the only one I’ve ever used. However, I can say that WordPress is a really good option! It was super easy to set up my blog, they have lots of great stylization options, dashboards full of statistics, and user-friendly ways to edit your pages and create posts! (Oh, and yes, it’s 100% free! They do have paid options, but you don’t need to use those.)
There are definitely other platform options out there, but you’ll have to do your own research on them, as I don’t know much about them!
Question: What have you found to be the best way to grow your blog?
Answer: Engaging with the blogging community outside of your own blog! Find blogs in a similar niche as yours, read some posts, follow other people, and comment on their blogs! This is a great step to getting to know your fellow bloggers, attracting your first visitors, and making friends! This can also lead to blog tours, guest posts, blog tags, and other such things where your blog will be shared on others’ blogs so that more people will be able to find it.
Question: How do you make sure your posts are actually benefiting readers?
Answer: Get feedback from your readers or close friends and family! Ask your readers if your posts are helpful and what they would like to see from you. Listen to their critique (if it’s nice and not just mean!) and do your best to create content that will serve them.
Also, writing on subjects you’re knowledgeable about is very important in order to know you’re benefiting your readers with your posts. Do research on the subject, write it well, and get feedback on it! If you write about something you hardly know anything about, you can easily be mistaken and mislead people, which is the last thing you want to do! Words are powerful, which means they can do a lot of good, but also a lot of bad. Be careful that you know what you’re talking about and are coming at the subject in a good way.
Question: Is having two blogs too much?
Answer: That’s up to you! If you feel like you have the time and energy to manage and keep up with consistently running two blogs, go right ahead! However, if you’re feeling like you can’t keep up and your content quality is getting worse because you’re stretching yourself too thin, it might be time to reevaluate running two blogs.
It doesn’t mean you have to shut one down though. You could start posting twice a month instead of once a week for example, which would give you the time you need to focus on one post for a different blog each week! The options are endless! Just make sure you’re taking care of yourself and creating the best posts you can! 🙂
Question: How often should I post on my blog?
Answer: Again, that’s definitely up to you! If you love blogging and have a lot of free time, you might be able to post every other day! If you want to space things out but post frequently, you may want to try posting once a week (which is what I did for nearly 4 years of blogging!) If you don’t have much time or want to work a lot longer on just one post, posting twice a month or even once a month is fine! I would encourage you to find what works best for you, and then stick to that schedule! Staying consistent when you post is a good way to build trust between you and your readers, instead of sometimes posting three times a week and then going silent for two months. That kind of unsteady posting will make readers confused, which you don’t want to do!
Question: Is blogging worth it?
Answer: Yes! Absolutely! If you love writing and you have something that you feel passionate about sharing with the world, then I’d highly encourage anyone to set up their own site, share what they have on their heart with others, and connect with the blogging community! It’s a pretty awesome place! 😎 Again, just make sure to take care of yourself, do the best you can, and have fun with it! When you have fun, your readers have fun, and that’s a very important thing to remember!

And that wraps it up for the post! Five years of blogging. What an insane milestone! Thank you to those who continue to support me on this journey, I truly hope this blog has been a helpful light to you, from my articles to my random haikus! 😁
I hope this Q&A was helpful to anyone thinking about or just starting a blog. If you have further questions on the subject feel free to ask me in the comments below!
