It’s Been a Long Road… (Big Changes)

December 3rd, 2017. I created my first ever blog, along with my email list. I posted my introduction post the day after, and posted my first blog post five days after that. (Man, looking back at those first blog posts brings back a lot of cringe and memories!) Ever since then, every Saturday, for close to 4 entire years, I have put out a new blog post. Even when I wanted to give up. Even when I got no likes or no comments on a post. I never missed a Saturday.

Life has changed in four years. I’ve gotten better at writing–even though sometimes it feels like I could never have been worse at writing than I am now–I’ve gone through some hard times, grown closer to God, started working, joined the Author Conservatory, and now I’m here. Blogging, through all of this, has been an incredible experience. I’ve fallen in love with it, and it has, without a doubt, made me a better person and a writer.

However, over the past few weeks, I’ve been looking at my schedule. I’ve been thinking of my true priorities as a person, a writer, and how blogging fits with that.

This post that you’re reading right now is officially the 200th post on my blog. Yes. 200 blog posts!! It blows my mind, but it’s true.

Now, I think it might be time to slow down just a little bit, reevaluate my blog, my email list, and how I want to use this platform.

CALEB, ARE YOU QUITTING BLOGGING??

No, don’t worry, I’m not doing that! I’m still going to be blogging. However, as of now, I’m considering switching from posting every single week to posting every other week. That would be 2-3 blog posts every month instead of 4-5, which I must say, was getting a tad difficult as I’ve gotten busier. My blog post quality has dropped (along with my email list quality), I’ve felt a little less motivated to keep the blog going, and the every week schedule is starting to get a little too much.

So, as I continue to figure things out, and try to come up with a plan for how I want to continue with my blog and email list, I’ll be going down to posting a blog post every other week, on Saturday, same time.

I’m going to probably start messing around with quality and appearance of the blog/new posts, try to make them a little higher quality, and try to serve my readers better with what I put out.

Is it possible that one day I’ll quit blogging, or start all over? Yes, very possible! But it is not this day.

For now, I’ll be lowering my posting schedule to focus more on quality and the future of the blog. Nothing too serious! ;P

All right. That’s it for this post. I just wanted to update you all on my thoughts, what’s going on, and where the blog is going. Thank you for your support, it means the world to me!

Until later,

  1. Good for you, Caleb! I always look forward to your posts, but it’s also good to take a step back if it isn’t working for you. Congratulations on your anniversary!! 😄👏

  2. Adjusting is always good! I’m glad you’re figuring out what you need to do. I’m going through something similar right now, so I’m happy to see I’m not the only person making some changes 🙂
