3 Wonderful Benefits of Blogging!

I’m not going to lie, when I started blogging in 2017, at the wee young age of 13, I was only going into it with the goal to create a platform so that people would buy my future books. That was it.

My view of blogging, platform, and marketing has changed a lot in the past couple years, I’m very relieved to say. The more I’ve written for my blog, met some incredible bloggers, and fought through the struggles of discouragement and writer’s block, the more I’ve realized there are some incredible benefits of blogging besides getting your books to sell. Today I wanted to share 3 wonderful benefits of blogging. This only scratches the surface of how many great benefits there are, but if I tried listing them all, this post would be way too long. So let’s get into it!

1: Meeting People

One of my favorite parts of blogging is connecting with like-minded writers, bloggers, readers, artists, the list goes on! Having a new person comment on your blog with some encouraging words and connecting with them is so awesome! And finding other bloggers websites that are really cool is another fun piece of being a part of the blogging world.

2: Learning New Skills

You learn new skills, and grow in strength with ones you all ready know! When I started blogging, I didn’t know there would be so much graphic design, formatting, and organizing to do. Those are only a few of the new skills I’ve learned while blogging!

If I hadn’t start blogging, I probably wouldn’t have ever learned how to create graphics, how to share my posts with people, or how to run a small website! These are all so beneficial, especially the older I get. Who knows, if I have to start running an online business someday, I’ll have a head start on creating graphics and some website know-how! 😛

3: You Build a Platform

Yes, the third one is the singular one I wanted to have when I started. It is true, that the more you write and the longer you blog, you will start to grow a following. People will be interested in what you have to say. However, I would highly suggest that you don’t look at these people like they’re your “fans”. That’s ridiculous. That’ll start making you think that you’re on a higher level than them, when you’re actually not. Instead, look at this like its an opportunity to help these people, and to serve them with your writing skills. Don’t think they came to serve you, think that they came so they could be served and blessed by your work.

However, the more you are able to serve people and the more people appreciate your work, the more chance they may be interested in purchasing a product from you that costs money. Which is pretty cool if I do say so for myself! 😀

All right, there you have it! 3 wonderful benefits of blogging!

If you’re a blogger, do you agree with my three points? What are some other benefits of blogging you can think of? Please let me know in the comments!

If you’re not a blogger, have you ever considered blogging? It’s a lot of fun, I’ll tell you that! 🙂

  1. Loved this, Caleb! I totally agree with #3-‘Don’t think they came to serve you, think that they came so they could be served and blessed by your work.’ so very true!!!

  2. Yes! I agree with these three.
I opened a blog to lay down my thoughts, ’cause I think a lot. It has fetched me the gift to go ahead and research about everything and anything.

Blogging has helped me connect with people on the internet, when I have phobia for speaking up in front of people. Blogging is lovely and it is going well so far. I can’t trade for anything (for now😂)

What book are you writing, Caleb? Have you tried opening Wattpad? Trust me, you can write your books there and get reads before advancing! Yes, I am on Wattpad!

  3. I agree! I have to say, I’m always really excited whenever I find out something new that makes things so much easier! And it has been so great to meet new people and learn so much from getting to know them. Blogging is so meaningful in that way.

  4. That’s funny that you posted about this now, because I decided recently that I’m going to start my own blog in a couple of months! I’m working on a bigger writing project at the moment and my life’s been pretty crazy lately, but I’m planning on starting my own blog in May. Or I’ll at least start working on it in May, and launch it later.

  5. Nice post, Caleb! I agree with all of these benefits, but especially #3. It’s important to remember that as writers, we are called to serve others. 🙂

Other benefits I can think of include honing one’s writing skills and cultivating in them a sense of consistency (if you write blog posts as consistent periodical installments).
